Program Coordinator

Qualification and Experience Required: 

  • Minimum bachelor’s in Public Health, Environment Health, Sociology or other
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience especially in project implementation preferable in climate change, waste etc. Having work experience with multiple actors, particularly local governments, line agencies, youth and female groups, different platforms will be given preferred.

Job purpose:

This position is responsible to below points for five working municipalities of the Solid Waste Project.

  • Overall planning, quality monitoring, & reporting of the project activities of respective district.
  • Lead implementation of overall project activities of working municipality.
  • Maintain close and friendly connections with the local governments and other waste-related organizations of working municipality.
  1. Planning, Implementation and Tracking
  • Prepare work plan of the project period and develop monthly and four monthly work plan of working municipality to implement the project activities and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Make proper implementation of project activities and budget utilization as per DIP and phased budget.
  • Coordinate to provide training and orientation to selected platforms and local level stakeholders and ensure their effective engagement in the project activities.
  • Regularly monitor and coaching the activities conducted under Solid Waste project and provide technical support to platforms for execution of the project activities.
  • Contribute to evidence generation on the issue by engaging in researches, disseminating through scientific articles and various national and international media.
  • Execute the monitoring framework to ensure the accountability and transparency in the project.
  • Support in maintaining participatory approaches in all processes of project cycle management.
  1. Material Development and Advocacy
  • Support in development of advocacy materials and ensure its well distribution.
  • Sensitize households, students, local leaders and communities on health and environmental hazards due to solid waste and capacitate them to its proper management.
  • Advocate to local, provincial and federal government of Nepal to develop suitable policies and programs for solid waste management.
  1. Documentation and Reporting
  • Regularly update about the progress made by household, sanitation worker and other platforms, stakeholders related to solid waste projects.
  • Collect the success and failure stories by monitoring the different stage.
  • Support in data collection of different survey, research conducted under solid waste project.
  • Support in preparing project reports as per donor and organization requirement
  1. Coordination and Representation
  • Establish and maintain strengthened function coordination with municipal government counterparts and other stakeholders for smooth execution of the project activities.
  • Coordinate with selected platforms into which activities will be integrated.
  • Provide technical support to district level government counterparts, other stakeholders and platforms for effective Solid Waste related activities in all working municipalities of project.
  1. Other Specific Responsibilities
  • Periodically contribute for other project implemented by organizations.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Program Director in a professional manner.
  • Be proactive in bringing innovations and new initiatives into the program and the organization.
