Soni Bassi is a seasoned public health professional with over two decades of leadership experience in program management, research, and community health services in Nepal. Her career reflects a deep commitment to improving health outcomes through evidence-based interventions, capacity building, and close collaboration with communities and government partners. She is widely recognized in Nepal’s public health sector for her strategic vision and ability to deliver sustainable results in challenging environments.
From 2011 to 2017, Soni served as Program Manager at REACH Nepal, where she spearheaded research, health education, and community-based initiatives focused on maternal and child health, nutrition, and disease prevention. Earlier, as a Research Officer at HERD Nepal, she played a key role in national projects addressing TB, HIV/AIDS, and reproductive health. Her contributions included designing studies, developing databases, supervising fieldwork, analyzing data, and ensuring alignment with Nepal’s national health programs. Throughout her research roles, she consistently prioritized high-quality evidence generation and organizational strengthening.
Soni’s foundational experience in direct service delivery spans primary health care programs with several leading organizations. She held Health Program Officer positions with the Community Urban Health Project under Kathmandu Metropolitan City and AMDA Nepal’s primary health care program for Bhutanese refugees. For more than seven years, she worked as Medical Program Supervisor at Save the Children UK, overseeing planning, implementation, and evaluation of primary health services in refugee camps. Renowned for her expertise in program planning, monitoring and evaluation, communicable disease control, community outreach, and multi-stakeholder coordination, Soni remains a trusted and influential leader in Nepal’s nonprofit and public health community.
