1. What is the mission of your organization?
NeDS main mission is to work with the local community, transforming their lives by working together and using indigenous knowledge build better health, education and information systems.
2. Does your organization work all over Nepal?
It is working in several districts of Nepal. So far, the organization has worked in 25 districts in Nepal.
3. Can I Volunteer in your organization?
Of course, yes. We have had interns, trainees, and volunteers from Nepal and abroad. It depends upon your area of interest and available slot in any project. You could send us an email with your CV and cover letter for a check at info@nedsnepal.org.np.
4. Do you pay your volunteer staff?
Unfortunately, we cannot pay to interns, trainees, and volunteers. We see to it that they benefit from the knowledge and experience they gather from working in NeDS.
5. Is your organization engaged in any political activity?
No. We are non-political NGO. We do not entertain in any political activity.
6. Where can I find job opportunities at Neds?
We announce the career opportunities in our website, facebook page and sometimes in newspaper.Please check periodically if you are interested to join our team.
7. Does Neds offer scholarships or grants to carry out research?
Not at this moment. We are exploring the possibilities so that we can support research capacity building of Nepali researchers.
8. Do you have educational materials for children?
We have school programs for diabetes and waste management for which we have developed some materials. Most of our educational material that are fit for adults. Flip-charts and illustrations about non-communicable diseases and composting can be informative for little children as well.

11. How is the organization funded?
The organization is funded through the generous support of volunteers, members and well-wishers located in Nepal and abroad. We also receive project specific funding from academic and developmental organizations.

Key achievements include screening nearly 25,000 people for blood pressure in the largest campaign of its kind; publishing over 100 scientific articles to inform health policy, the highest for any non-academic institution in Nepal; introducing the “Helmet Doctor Project” for doorstep consultations; and training over 250 people in skill-based training in earthquake-affected regions

We use rigorous, evidence-based research methodologies to measure impact, track key performance indicators, and publish our findings. NeDS ensures that funds are used efficiently to maximize impact. We maintain clear breakdowns of administrative versus program costs in our financial reports to ensure accountability to our donors and partners.
16. Can I donate supplies or equipment (in-kind donations)?
We primarily work through program funding but occasionally accept in-kind donations of relevant goods or services. Please contact our main office directly to discuss specific needs and arrangements. Yes, absolutely. Collaboration is a cornerstone of our work. We have robust partnerships with several international academic institutions, including Johns Hopkins University and others, to conduct joint research projects, publish scientific findings, and share best practices in development and public health.
20. How does NeDS ensure the sustainability of its projects after funding ends?
We prioritize community-led design and local ownership from the beginning of every project. By building capacity within local communities and the government—such as training Female Community Health Volunteers—we ensure that the knowledge and systems we implement can continue to thrive independently long after our direct involvement or specific project funding concludes.
21. How does NeDS incorporate gender equality and social inclusion into its projects?
NeDS is committed to building communities with gender-transformative practices and social equity, free from caste or any other form of discrimination. We specifically design programs that empower women—such as training Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs)—and ensure that marginalized and hard-to-reach populations are included in our services to promote the principle of “No One Left Behind”.
22. Does NeDS utilize the knowledge of the older generation in its development work?
Yes, we believe in the value of all community members. A core objective of NeDS is to productively utilize the learned experiences of the ageing population, acknowledging their fundamental right to engage meaningfully in societal changes and reducing generation gaps through mutual learning opportunities
