Dr. Nisha Rana is a dedicated public health expert and researcher with extensive experience in maternal and child health. She earned her PhD from Uppsala University, Sweden, in 2019, focusing on neonatal health interventions. Prior to that, she completed a Master’s degree in Public Health from SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM University), Chennai, India, and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, Maharajgunj, Nepal.
Her professional interests center on evidence-based public health, clinical research, and improving health outcomes in resource-limited settings. Dr. Rana’s doctoral research examined the long-term effects of delayed umbilical cord clamping on iron deficiency anemia and neurodevelopment in late preterm and term infants. Her landmark PhD thesis, titled “Effect of Timing of Umbilical Cord Clamping on Anaemia at 8 and 12 Months and Later Neurodevelopment in Late Pre-Term and Term Infants: A Facility-Based Randomized Controlled Trial in Nepal,” has contributed valuable evidence to global guidelines on newborn care.
With a strong academic foundation and hands-on research experience in Nepal, Dr. Nisha Rana continues to lead initiatives that bridge scientific research with practical public health improvements, particularly in maternal, newborn, and child health.
