Nepal Development Society is the leading research NGO from Nepal established in 2013. It focuses on governance, public policy, research and planning. “The overall volume of waste from our house has reduced. We put all degradable waste to compost chamber to prepare compost. We use compost in our kitchen garden. We do not have to buy chemical pesticides and fertilizers now. We have also reduced the use of plastic materials. Since I am a chairperson of my area/tole, I also make sure all community houses manage waste properly. Our area has become cleaner now.”
“कुहिने फोहोरलाई कम्पोष्टिङ्ग रिङ्गमा हाल्ने र मल बनाउने गरेबाट हाम्रो घरबाट फाल्न पर्ने फोहोर निकै कम हुन थालेको छ । उत्पादित मल करेसाबारीमा हाल्छौँ । रासायनिक विषादी र मल अब किन्नै पर्दैन । प्लास्टिकजन्य वस्तुहरु पनि साह्रै कम प्रयोग गर्न थालेका छौँ । टोल विकास संस्थाका अध्यक्ष भएको नाताले सबै घरधुरीमा फोहोर व्यवस्थापन उचित भए नभएको पनि हेर्छु । अहिले त टोल नै सफा भएको छ ।”
“I used to collect dispose all types of waste together. The training by Nepal Development Society made me aware about types of waste, segregation and disposal as per its nature. I learned 70% of household waste is used to prepare compost and I am practicing it. 20% is reused and sold to recyclers. Remaining 10%, which are mostly hazardous, I send to municipal vehicle for its proper disposal.”
“मैले घरमा उत्पादन भएको सबै प्रकारको फोहोरलाई एकै ठाउँमा फांल्ने गर्थेँ । नेपाल विकास समाजले दिएको तालिमबाट फोहोरको प्रकार र यसको प्रकृतिको आधारमा कसरी व्यवस्थापन गर्ने स्पष्ट भयो । घरमा उत्पादन हुने ७०% कुहिने फोहोर त आफैले कम्पोष्ट मल बनाउन सकिँदो रहेछ । अजैविक फोहोर भने मिल्ने जति पुन प्रयोग गर्ने र बाकी पुन प्रशोधनको लागि पठाउँदा अर्को २०% व्यवस्थापन भएको छ । अब फाल्नै पर्ने हानिकारक फोहोर जम्मा १०% रहँदो रहेछ र यसलाई नगरपालिकाको गाडीमा पठाउने गरेको छु ।”
